Use of Other Tobacco Products by Sex

In 2010, among youth aged 15-19, significantly more males than females had tried all tobacco products (78-80) (Figure 10.3).  This gender difference appeared to be particularly large for pipe and chewing tobacco/snuff. A similar pattern was observed among younger students, with more males than females in grades 6-9 ever trying all other tobacco products (81-83).

Among youth aged 15-19, gender differences in use of other tobacco products were consistent over time from 2003 to 2010 (data not shown). Among students in grades 6-9, gender differences also appeared fairly consistent over time, from 1994 to 2008-09 (data not shown).
