CIGARETTE CONSUMPTION
Cigarette Consumption In 2010, average cigarette consumption among daily smokers was 15.1 cigarettes per day (CPD), which was not significantly different from the 2009 rate of 14.5 CPD (15). From 1999 to 2010, cigarette consumption declined significantly (16), by more than 2 cigarettes per day (Figure 1.10). The average rate of decline in cigarette consumption during this time period was 1.3% per year. There is evidence that the difference between successive years is getting smaller with time (17).
